The CPA is the UK’s leading organisation for Plant-hire Professionals. Their membership comprises in excess of 1500 companies, from Owner Operators through Tool Hire Shops and up to market leading Multi-Depot Organisations. These companies hire out all types of Construction Equipment and Construction Plant and jointly represent over 90% of UK Plant Hire by turnover.
This strong membership gives the Association a powerful voice within Industry and Government. They are also represented on various working committees. In collaboration with these committees, CPA conditions of hire have been created, together with improvements on Health and Safety and Training.
CECA was established in November 1996 at the request of contractors to represent the interests of civil engineering contractors registered in the UK as well as to provide a full range of services to its members.
CECA is the voice for Great Britain’s civil engineering contractors, providing leadership, service and representation in an industry that constructs and maintains the Nation’s infrastructure. Its members construct, develop and maintain the rail and road networks, ports and airports, flood and sea defences, water and waste water systems and the means of energy production and distribution.
CECA’s current membership is in excess of 350 civil engineering companies which range in size from large and well-known national names to medium and smaller sized companies which may operate at a more regional level. CECA members account for 75-80% of the civil engineering workload undertaken in Great Britain.
The RoSPA is a registered charity established over 90 years ago. Providing information, advice, resources and training, RoSPA is actively involved in the promotion of safety in all areas of life – at work, in the home, and on the roads, in schools, at leisure and on or near water. RoSPA aims to campaign for change, influence opinion, contribute to debate, educate and inform… for the good of all.

The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) is dedicated to completing health and safety pre-qualification assessments to a nationally recognised and accepted threshold standard. CHAS is a founder member and current Chair of Safety Schemes in Procurement – Competence Forum or SSIP. CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK. It is a non-commercial scheme available to suppliers (those who provide goods and services) and to organisations (buyers) looking for suitably competent suppliers.
The MPA represents the interests of more than 120 quarry operators who together produce more than 90% of the UK’s aggregate-based construction materials, and in doing so provide livelihoods for 40,000 people.
The MPA represents members’ interests on policy, planning and technical matters with government departments, local authorities, professional trade bodies and other key audiences at European, national and local levels.
